July is the tail-end of winter and you can start looking at planting for the early summer harvest.
Rootcrops, brassicas, leaf crops (spinach, lettuce and mustard greens) and peas will all do well planted now. The brassicas need to go in this month if you are going to get them to maturity before the heat of summer makes them bolt and run to seed.
Plant your seed a bit shallower as the ground is still cold, a covering of grass clippings or hessian will assist in germination. Non-root veggies can be started off in seedling trays, root crops should be sown straight into the ground.
