Lagenaria siceraria
An Italian Heirloom that was originally grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. This gourd can either be used as a zucchini substitute or grown and dried out as a decorative gourd.
The pale green fruits have a white flesh which can be steamed, sliced, fried, canned or frozen. The fruits are nice and tender when eaten young at 15-30cm long, however they can be left to grow up to a meter long.
Ready to harvest in 150 days.
