Citrullus lanatus
Bred by W.A Kleckly in the 1880's and commercially introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1897. Also known as the Monte Christo watermelon. This delicious watermelon is an oblong shape, with a thin dark green skin containing the juicy and sweet bright red flesh and white seeds. Due to the skin being thin, this variety does not transport well.
