Most people have seen the dried out calabashes that are used as utensils in rural areas. This is the real deal. If allowed to dry out they can be hollowed out for utensils, bowls, cups or even carved into very durable birds nests. We supply seed to an eco-community that is making their entire communities eating utensils from these gourds. What a lot of people don't know is that this is a delicacy and when picked at the right time, makes for a great side dish or a traditional african breakfast. Pick them when the skin can be easily pierced with your nail, if the skin gets tough they don't have a great flavour. (hence this is NOT a storage food) Cut up skin and all and boil them as for pumpkin and use as a side for a main dish. Alternatively, it can be served with milk, cottage cheese or sour milk as a breakfast.
Standard packet contains approx 15 seeds
Petite packet contains approx 5 seeds.
