Artemisia afra

Indigenous to South Africa, African Wormwood, Wilde-Als (Afrikaans) has been and is still commonly used in traditional medicines, treating everything from the common cold, stomach upsets and disorders, through to being an anti-inflammatory, pain relieving wound disinfecting miracle. The dried leaves also make a great insect repellent, especially for ants and fleas.

The light green/grey almost fern-like foliage adds a lovely contrast to the garden.

Plant seeds shallowly in spring and only cover very lightly with soil. Transplant to a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Prefers damp soil, but not waterlogged. Once established, they are cold hardy. They need to be pruned heavily in winter to encourage new lush growth in spring. Growth habit can vary depending on the environment, in some areas reaching up to only 0.6m tall and in others up to 2m.

Standard Packet contains approx. 15 seeds
