Cucumis melo
A rare, deliciously sweet and juicy muskmelon from the 1800s. Ananas is a French and Italian word, which when translated means pineapple. This bears testimony to the subtle pineapple aroma and flavour that this stunning melon imparts. The flesh ranges from a creamy white/green to a pale orange colour when ripe. It has a lovely scent with a hint of pineapple. A prolific producer of small, oval 2-2.5kg fruits. Be sure to keep an eye on the fruits as the ripen, as it hey tend to split when overripe.
Ready for harvest around 85 days.
