Phaseolus vulgarus
This bean gets its name from its stunning pattern, looking similar to the amazing patetrns on an Appaloosa horse.
These beans produce long slim pods with long narrow beans inside; beans are white at one end and tan/brown/black mottling at the other end. This variety is easy to grow. They are ready to be harvested between 65 & 100 days. The pods are rarely eaten as they are too fibrous so their beans are used as dry beans and/or legumes. The speckles fade from the bean during cooking and they are best used in soups, stews and as baked beans.
