Cucumis melo

Looks like a cucumber, tastes like a cucumber but is actually a type of melon that is best eaten in the green (cucumber) stage. Also known as a cucumber melon. Sliced with the skin on it produces beautiful scalloped cucumber slices that are sure to add interest to your green salads.

The flesh is light and crisp with a tender sweet skin (no peeling required here). For the best flavour and texture, pick them young at 25-30cm in length. They can grow into mini submarines in a couple of days if left on the vine.

A heavy producer that is well worth growing both for the quantity and sublime flavour.
