A Siberian Heirloom, this is a stunning variety comes from a town called Irkutsk... come on try and pronounce it. It's just north of Mongolia so this is literally one of those vegetables from the middle of nowhere. It has has a nice firm flesh with colours ranging from brown to deep purple/black, depending on the acidity of your soil. The flavor is fruity and intense. This variety makes a perfect base for rich tomato dishes. Approx 25 seeds Planting: Plant in Spring after last frost, or alternatively plant in a cold frame from August to get a head start and early fruit. can be planted until Dec for a late summer crop. Does well planted in a tomato frame or trained up some support. Enjoys rich soil with a high organic content.
