Solanum lycopersicum

This is an outstanding tomato. A well-known Russian heirloom (don't let its name confuse you!) that is a very heavy producer of large, meaty, pear-shaped tomatoes.

Depending on the soil, the fruit colour can vary from a dusty pink all the way through to a deep purple. This variety has become a firm favourite in our home for both fresh eating and preserving, and we will be planting it regularly for our own home consumption.
