Burley tobacco is the second most popular tobacco variety which is grown around the world. It is a Light Air type cured tobacco.

The leaves are thinner and have a lower chlorophyll content so they are a lighter green colour. There are two ways to harvesting burley tobacco, Primed harvest where the ripe leaves are harvested or Stalk-cut Harvested where the whole plant is cut down. Curing Burley tobacco takes anything between 3-12 weeks. During the curing process Burley loses almost all its natural sugars which results in a strong cigar-like flavour. Cured leaves are ligh-tan to reddish-brown colour.
