Lagenaria siceraria
Named after their potential to grow as wide as a bushel basket which is around 1,5m. These gourds grow huge (15-20kg) without much effort and up to 50kg if only one fruit is grown per plant. This variety makes excellent baskets when dried, as their shells are usually harder than other gourds. Bushel Gourd is also used in the arts and crafts market to make decorative bowls. Easy to grow in warmer climates.
