Salvia hispanica
A member of the mint family, rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and fiber.

Chia seed has a mild nutty flavour and makes a delicious, textured addition to smoothies, oats and yogurt as well as an interesting salad topping.

The chia plant can grow to 90cm tall, with bright green, oval leaves and a display of beautiful blue flowers in summer. The plants require a long season to produce seeds.

Plants enjoy a full sun position and well draining soil. The plants are drought resistant and tender to frost - will grow well in winter in frost free areas.

Ready to harvest around 65 days.
