Zea mays
A stunning producer of small, dark purple-black cobs, this variety was donated to us by Steve Banhegyi. A medium height corn, only growing to around 1.5m. The cobs are small, 10-15cm long, but what you lose in cob size the plant makes up in numbers, producing up to 10 cobs per plant. This is one of those corn varieties that just surprises. They are best picked as either a sweetcorn in the milk stage before they colour up, or left to dry for maize meal. The meal is a stunning blue colour and kids love to eat it.
