Centaurea cyanus

Also known as Bachelors button, these easy to grow, sky blue cornflowers are a beautiful addition to the garden, attracting the human eye and pollinators alike.

The plant has an upright growth habit, producing flower spikes up to 90cm tall and seem to be happier planted closely together in clumps. A good border or container growing variety.

This variety requires full sun and well drained soil. Over fertilizing will produce more leave growth at the expense of flower production.

They make excellent cut flowers, the flowers are also edible and can be added to salads, iced teas and dried for later use.
