Cucumis sativus

Super productive and disease-resistant, Homemade Pickles is one of the best pickling cucumber varieties. It produces masses of short, stubby cukes 5-15cm long that are crisp, fleshy, and simply delicious pickled. They also do great in salads.

Ready to harvest in 75 days after transplant.

Standard packet contains approx. 15 seeds

Petite packet contains approx. 5 seeds

I find these cucumbers less hardy than Ashley for example. The seeds germinated well in warm weather and seedlings look very handsome when young. The roots even smell like cucumber when transplanting! I did not have a good harvest and was so looking forward to making pickles. But will try again next season.

Looking after this plant is important straight after transplant however I found it to be hardy in the harsh sun. Cucumbers grow quickly and flowers are prolific.

The plants are quite fragile, especially in the first month or so after germination. However the description is spot on in that they're crisp and delicious when pickled! They are also fantastic in a salad as a cucumber (rather than a pickle). Will definitely grow these again - ON MASS!
