Solanum melongena
A variety originally from the Ukraine, collected by Kent Whealy in 1993. They produce abundant fruits and are not prone to bitterness. One of the better producing varieties in terms of total weight produced. This variety is slowly becoming more and more popular with home and market gardeners due to its outstanding qualities. It is quite low maintenance and an easy to grow plant, as long as a level of basic care is provided.
The Diamond brinjal is lovely roasted with other vegetables or enjoyed in saucy dishes.
