Echinacea purpurea
Echinacea is a phenomenal herb that has many uses; typically we use it to make a tea whenever we feel a cold or flu coming on. A perennial that once you have it in the ground, will give you years of leaves and flowers to harvest. For best results drop them into the freezer for 2 weeks before you plant them out. The seeds also need light to germinate, so plant them just barely covered with soil.
Can be sown in Autumn for a spring flowering or in Spring for a late summer show. Echinacea is slow to give a show in the garden and only really gets into it's stride after the second season.
