Elephant garlic is not actually a garlic, it is a member of the Leek family that looks, tastes and behaves like a garlic. A mild flavoured garlic much favoured as it's easy to peel and produces impressively large cloves. Elephant garlic often produces flower spikes that should be removed as the production of flowers draw energy away from making big tasty cloves. This is the latest planting garlic and should be planted after the middle of March upto the middle of April.

Approx 15 cloves

This will plant one row approx 2.3 mt long if planted two cloves 15cm apart, with 30 cm between plantings (i.e. a double row of cloves with 30cm between plantings)
