Solanum melongena
An heirloom developed by the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station in Gainesville in 1948 as a home garden and market variety. The sturdy plants produce attractive dark purple/deep maroon, tear-drop shaped fruits. The flavourful fruits are perfect for making a low carb or keto lasagne and can be used for grilling, stuffing or frying too.
The plants grow up to 100cm tall, and the fruits can grow up to a decent 20cm long. You will require 80cm between rows and 70cms between plants.
Ready to harvest in 90 days.
