Solanum melanocerasum

 Also known as Wonderberry. A variety of Black Nightshade, this berry is native to Africa and is highly nutritious and rich in anti-oxidants.

Ready to harvest when they are a dull black-purple colour and soft to touch. They have a similar flavour to a tomatillo when ripe and the flavour really comes out when slightly sweetened and cooked.

The berries are most commonly used to make syrups, preserves and jams and can be used as an alternative in recipes that call for blueberries or any other berries. These berries can also be frozen for use at a later stage.
