This is one of our favorites! My wife, who is American, misses getting this from the local supermarket... but now we can grow our own! Once roasted she warms it in the oven again with cherry tomatoes, homemade pesto, and mozzarella cheese. We are definitely going to plant more this next coming season.

I first grew these 5 years ago and was an instant convert. These seeds from Livingseeds are even better though. The squash grow huge, aren't so demanding of perfect soil and taste really nice. Leave lots of space though. Some of my vines are 8m long and still growing.

Grows like mad, needs a lot of space.
Tastes really good, lots of ways to cook it, even on a braai.
Produces a lot, great for large families who enjoy eating squash twice a week,

BRILLIANT. Absolute winner - the vine got going very quickly early in the season and we got tons of produce before the pumpkin flies arrived and ruined everyone's fun. We loved them right off the vine (ie not cured/hardened), popped on the braai in its skin. Also delicious in pastas and potjies. Vine gets huge! So do the squash! If not for the dreaded fly, we'd still be eating them. Got mildew very badly but after a harsh cut back, it came back fine.

Fantastic plant! Despite the heat waves and water problems this season, my spaghetti squash is going berserk. The yield is astounding and the plant very resilient. Don't stand still too long or it will probably try to climb you :)
