Borago officinalis
Native to the Mediterranean, Borage has been used as a medicinal and culinary herb for many centuries. Our young children always referred to Borage as the cucumber flower, being similar in flavour and aroma to cucumber. Our kids loved to pick the breath-taking blue flowers and tender young leaves to sprinkle them into our salads.
Not only are they high in minerals, these plants self-seed too! Borage flowers are a great source of pollen and nectar, attracting many beneficial insects, especially bees - you will never find your plants without the company of bees.
