Cucurbita pepo
This pumpkin is not known for its flesh, its the seeds that are the real treasure here. Lacking the hard outer seed coat, these "naked" pumpkin seeds are most commonly sprouted or roasted to make 'pumpkin nuts' for use in muesli, breads or simply to eat as a healthy snack. These pumpkins grow to about bowling ball size and if harvested correctly, will store well for up to 3 months on the shelf. Also a popular pumpkin for carving.
