Solanum melongena
The Long Purple Brinjal is an Italian heirloom that was first sold in the US by B. K. Bliss and Sons, seed sellers of New York. This variety produces 20-25cm long, dark purple fruits with a fine texture and a delicious white interior that holds up brilliantly in cooking. We find this variety has low bitterness and can be harvested at only 15cm long for an even more tender treat. Requires a long growing season and is very frost sensitive.
