Most commonly found in Limpopo, however can also be found in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

These medium to large deciduous trees are grown easily from seed and can grow up to 13m tall. Best sown in Spring in washed river sand.

Marula trees are dioecious; the male trees produce the pollen and the female trees produce the fruits which fall off the tree when green and then ripen to their yellow colour.

The trees grow best in frost free areas with warm conditions. They can tolerate very mild frosts when protected during the first few growing seasons.
