Every year, we grow out hundreds of seeds from our stocks and other suppliers’. Since the “Superhot” craze is moving so fast, vendors typically sell off of photos from a single year’s harvest. The following year, the peppers often look nothing like the first year. It takes years to stabilise a variety, and sellers don’t have time to wait.
This is why there is so much variation from year to year. In the seed industry, we call this segregation. Livingseeds takes all of our off-types and adds them into a single lot… called Mixed Super Incandescents.
It’s literally a gamble, but an exciting one that can produce almost anything. The coolest part is you get to use crazy vocabulary to name your own new variety.
