Phaseolus coccineus

This is a true runner bean that will come back year after year as long as the root if kept covered over a harsh winter. Originally given to us by a young man called Willie Munting who has a passion for gardening.

This bean is simply outstanding, both as a producer of superb green beans, and just to look at and enjoy the colours of this dry bean.The bright purple skin and deep blacks of the bean are just awesome to behold.

As it's a true runner, the pods if allowed to swell will need to be strung, however if you are a bean connoisseur you will know that string beans, and runners especially, are some of the tastiest beans out there.
