Locally known as M'shai or Mutshaina this large leaf mustard is the true heirloom variety grown by the Venda people and famous for its strong flavour and meaty texture.
- Summer or winter crop. Leaves are larger in winter.
- Mix the extremely fine seed with sand to achieve good soil coverage.
- Sow direct.
- Harvest mature leaves from the base of the plant.
- Can be eaten boiled with feta, or pan fried with tomato and onion and used as relish/side dish.
Cultivation:
Best in full sun.
Will hybridise with other Brassica, if you wish to save seeds plant away from cabbage, other mustard varieties etc.
Very prolific seeder.
