Capsicum chinense
A very rare Malaysian chilli of the habanero family. Being a variety of habanero, the fruity flavour is exceptional. Known by various names, Coronong, Goronong etc, our seed was received over 10 years ago, marked as Caronong. The unusual, long, twisted pods are very pretty, especially as they ripen from green to yellow. These puppies are very wicked. We cut one open in the field just to have a look inside. One of the first things you notice is the unusually large number of little capsaicin oil droplets that line the inside of the almost-ripe fruits – a little hint as to what will happen when you put it into your mouth.
