• Piennolo del Vesuvio Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

An old Italian heirloom, thought to be one of the oldest varieties from the southern region of Campania around Mount Vesuvius. Piennolo means "hanging," which refers to the method by which the locals would tie bunches of the tomatoes together and hang them for storage. It is here that this variety comes into its own: The true intensely rich flavours come to the fore as they mature and sweeten.

A beautiful, deep red, oval cherry tomato with a very distinct pointed tip that forms on the blossom end. Fantastic as a salad tomato, sauce tomato, as well as for preserves and purees.

Its good storage attributes once picked makes it an excellent choice to sell at farmers' markets. This indeterminate variety can grow to approx. 150cm tall and will require staking/support.

Ready for harvest in 70 days after transplant.

Standard packet contains approx. 25 seeds
