Phaseolus vulgaris
This historical bean is thought to have been the original bean used to make succotash, an indigenous corn and bean dish from the northeastern tribes in the USA. Originally grown by the Narragansett Indian tribe from Rhode Island, this unique purple-blue bean looks almost like a kernel of beautifully coloured corn. This rare pole bean has vines up to 2m tall and will benefit from being trellised or supported. The flattened pods hold up to 6 seeds each, best dried on the plant for use as a dry bean.
80 days to maturity.
Standard packet contains approx. 25 seeds
Petite packet contains approx. 10 seeds
Using Beanflo-Rhizobium bacteria when planting your bean seed is the most cost effective way of putting nitrogen fixing bacteria into your soil, creating healthier soil for a more productive harvest.
