Solanum lycopersicum
A prolific San-Marzano-type paste tomato from Lazio, Italy. The variety got its name from the Italian word "scatalone," meaning "carton." This is because these tomatoes can be harvested when they're still pink and then kept in a carton to mature. The fruit is larger than the standard San Marzano and boasts lots of pulp and excellent flavour typical of Italian paste tomatoes.
