Turmeric Curcuma longa

We have been asked for a long time to supply turmeric root for planting.

We finally have enough to sell! So here is your chance to get you own stocks of organically grown turmeric root.

Our Turmeric is ready to plant and will probably have a few eyes by the time you receive it.

Best grown in light or partial shade. Turmeric is part of the ginger family and if you break a fresh piece, you can smell a definite ginger scent.

Plant in well improved soil with added bonemeal (Talborne's BonePhos is perfect) and keep well watered but not constantly wet.

If you are in a frost region, then plant in pots so that they can overwinter indoors on a sunny windowsill.

The plant get to about 1m tall and has stunning flowers! Once the flowers have died down, it's time to look at lifting your crop.

Lift the roots, rinse them and clean with a soft brush and allow to dry in a cool place. Use the damaged pieces first.

P.S. save some for replanting, you will never need to buy turmeric in the shops again.
