We are hugely excited to introduce one of the finest international varieties of sunchoke to the South African food gardener. This variety has been properly acclimatized and tested in South African growing conditions.

This variety really and truly lives up to its name! This is known as one of the largest tuber sunchokes in the world, with some of the crop this year approaching a small sweet potato in size. Known from as far back as the 1800's Mammoth is known by a whole range of names, White Mammoth, French White Mammoth, White French Artichoke, French Improved Artichoke, we have chosen the more romantic French White Mammoth.

Taste is great, and of course you have a lot less tuber cleaning to do as the chokes are so very big!

The Inulin content of this sunchoke is moderate, and this variety seems to be able to turn the water it is being boiled in greenish. This is natural, and is bioactive, health giving chemicals from the skin of the ‘choke.

The variety is a moderate runner, and tolerant of some shade.
