An excellent dry-land crop that can be treated as a perennial in frost free areas and will grow into a substantial bush/small tree. African tradition calls for replanting of a seed if the plant dies. Eaten as a green pod, green pea and as a dried pea. They have a typical pea flavour when eaten fresh. The dried 'peas' are used as you would a dry bean and taste very similar too.
