Beta vulgaris
A beautiful golden yellow beetroot, released in the USA in the early 1940s. This beetroot was bred specifically to cater for the gourmet market that was looking for a non-staining beetroot. Golden Globe produces attractive orange roots with a bright golden interior. Their exquisite, sweet and tender taste holds well even when picked large, and can be enjoyed for their classic, sweet beetroot flavour without the associated staining. They have light green leaves which can either be steamed or used raw in a mixed salad. Colour holds well in casseroles.
