Safflower has been cultivated for thousands of years and has many uses. Not only do they impress with their yellow-orange blossoms; they are often used as cooking oil, production of margarine, a natural dye for fabrics or as a natural food colouring in drinks and food. It's cultivation and use is similar to sunflowers and the seed can also be used as a high protein addition to poultry feed.
