Arachis hypogaea

 Originally collected from an informal market in Marakabei Lesotho which is on the banks of the Senqunyane River. This is also in the same area the is the source of the Orange River. (Senqu is Sotho for orange)

The Senqu peanut is a lovely sweet peanut that is simply perfect for fresh eating. It have a reasonable oil content making it perfect for peanut butter production.

Lift the plant and hang to dry when they are 50% dry, watch the plant and as soon as they start to tun yellow keep a close eye so that they don't shed their pods on lifting.
