Pisum sativum

First introduced in 1943 as a cross between two heirlooms, Laxton's Progress (England) and Perfection (USA), this shelling pea variety is a real tough cookie. It's able to handle cold weather like a pro, making it perfect for early planting, and is also more heat tolerant than other varieties.

The plants grow vigorously up to 75 cm tall and produce an abundance of dark green pods with 6-9 medium-sized sweet peas per pod. To help them reach their full potential, they'll need trellising.
